A Note on Pladio 1.4.3 — Better Song Identification, Fairer Pricing, and What Comes Next
Pladio 1.4.3 is coming soon with substantial improvements to how songs are identified. It also marks the start of a new direction for the app: fairer pricing already live in the App Store, sharper focus on quality, and a continued commitment to keeping core features free.
Pricing Update — v1.4 Launch Reset
When I launched Pladio 1.4 last week, the response blew me away. Honest, detailed, generous feedback from radio enthusiasts, fellow developers, and the Apple-blog community — including a thoughtful piece from Caschy over at Caschys Blog. Thank you. Genuinely. But one piece of feedback came up again and again, from almost every corner: the prices are too high.
I sat with that for a few days. I re-read the comments. I looked at what comparable indie apps charge. I looked at what Pladio actually offers in v1.4. And I came to the same conclusion you did: You were right. The prices were too ambitious for where Pladio is today.
So I've adjusted them. Here's what's changed, and why.
Pladio 1.4 is Here — Premium Features, More Free Features & Smarter Station Database
This is the biggest release since Pladio launched — and the most important one.
Pladio 1.4 introduces the app's first Premium features, a whole new wave of free features, and a fundamental shift in how the radio station database works behind the scenes. It is the moment Pladio grows from a great free app into something you can rely on for the long haul.
Here is what matters most before anything else: every feature that was free in Pladio 1.3 is still free in 1.4. Forever. No paywalls have been moved, no features have been taken away, no ads have been added. Premium is what grew on top.
