The Future of Pladio: What's Coming in 2026

A personal update from Patrick, the solo developer behind Pladio

Hey everyone,

It's been an incredible journey since I launched Pladio. What started as a passion project during evenings and weekends has grown into something I'm truly proud of. With over 28,000 impressions and thousands of active users, your support and feedback have been overwhelming – in the best possible way.

Today, I want to share what's next for Pladio.

The Most Requested Feature

If I had to pick the one thing you've asked for most, it's this: "Can I add my own radio stations?"

Whether it's a local community station, a niche genre stream, or your company's internal broadcast – you want to listen to it in Pladio. And I completely understand. The curated database is great, but it can't include every station in the world.

So here's the good news: Custom radio stations are coming to Pladio in the next update.

What You'll Be Able to Do

In the upcoming Pladio 1.x release, you'll be able to:

  • Add your own stations directly in the app (iOS, iPadOS, and macOS)

  • Edit and manage your custom stations anytime

  • Sync across devices – your stations follow you via iCloud

  • Suggest stations for the official database – if approved, everyone benefits

The best part? This feature will be completely free. No premium subscription, no limits (well, a reasonable limit of 10-15 stations to prevent misuse).

I believe this is a feature that should be accessible to everyone. It's my way of saying thank you for your incredible support.

How Station Suggestions Will Work

When you add a custom station, you'll have the option to suggest it for the official Pladio database. Here's how that process works:

  1. You tap "Suggest for Community"

  2. I receive your station details

  3. I run my quality checks (is the stream reliable? does the favicon look good? is the metadata complete?)

  4. If approved, your station appears in the next database update – available to all Pladio users

This way, the Pladio community helps grow the database together. Pretty cool, right?

Looking Further Ahead

While I'm focused on delivering the custom stations feature first, I'm also working on some exciting things for the future. I don't want to promise specific features or timelines yet, but I can tell you that I'm exploring ways to:

  • Make the app lighter and faster

  • Deliver radio station updates more quickly

  • Introduce premium features for power users who want even more control

I'll share more details when I'm confident about the plans. For now, know that Pladio's best days are ahead.

A Note on Being a Solo Developer

Some of you have asked about the team behind Pladio. Well, there isn't one – it's just me, Patrick, working on this during evenings and weekends in Switzerland.

This means development takes longer than it would at a big company. But it also means every feature is crafted with care, every line of code is reviewed personally, and every decision is made with you – the user – in mind.

Your patience and support mean the world to me.

How You Can Help

  • Leave a review on the App Store – it helps others discover Pladio

  • Tell a friend who loves radio – word of mouth is powerful

  • Send feedback – I read every message and take your suggestions seriously

  • Consider a donation – if Pladio brings you joy, a small tip helps keep development going

Thank You

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this journey. Every time I see someone enjoying Pladio, discovering a new station, or recognizing a song they couldn't remember – it makes all the late nights worth it.

Here's to a great 2026 for Pladio!

Happy listening,
Patrick
