Pladio 1.2 - The Biggest Update Yet

I'm excited to announce that Pladio 1.2 is now available on the App Store! What was originally planned as a Q2 release is here early, thanks to faster-than-expected development progress and an incredibly efficient TestFlight beta phase. This update represents the most significant evolution of Pladio since launch.

Completely Redesigned Radio Browser

I've rebuilt the radio browser from the ground up with a new tab-based navigation system featuring five dedicated sections:

Recent brings your recently played stations front and center, sorted by when you last listened. Favorites gives you quick access to your starred stations with flexible sorting by name, play frequency, or total listening duration. My Stations is a brand new section for stations you add manually. Local shows stations near your current location, sorted by distance. And All lets you browse the entire station database.

Each tab remembers its own sort preference, so your Recent tab can show newest-first while your Favorites stay alphabetically organized. This flexibility lets you customize exactly how you want to browse your stations.

My Stations: Add Your Own Radio Streams

This was the number one feature request, and it's finally here! You can now add your own radio stations to Pladio. Simply enter a stream URL, and Pladio handles the rest.

The editor includes automatic stream validation that checks if the URL is actually playable before saving. When possible, codec and bitrate are auto-detected from the stream. You can also customize station details including name, country, genres, and more. Your manual stations sync across all your devices via iCloud and are fully integrated with CarPlay for listening on the road.

Advanced Search with Categories

Searching has been completely revamped with category-based filtering. Choose from dedicated search categories: Name, Country, Location, Genres, Labels, Codec, Bitrate, and Credits. Or use "Any" to search across all metadata at once.

The bitrate search is particularly powerful: use comparison operators like ">=128" to find only high-quality streams, or "<=64" for data-saving options. This makes it easy to find exactly the audio quality you're looking for.

Display Customization

New display settings let you personalize how text appears throughout the app. Control text casing for station names, genres, country names, song titles, and artist names. Settings are separate for the player view and radio browser, giving you full flexibility. Live preview cards show your changes in real-time as you adjust them. Find these options in Settings under Display.

CarPlay Improvements

My Stations are now fully integrated into CarPlay, so you can access your manually added stations while driving. The CarPlay interface has also been refined with improved template handling for a smoother experience.

Report Station Issues

Notice a problem with a station? Stream not working? Wrong metadata? You can now report issues directly from the app. Swipe left on any station and tap "Report Issue" to send feedback. The report includes all relevant station details automatically, making it easy to help improve the station database for everyone.

Additional Improvements

The update also includes a fresh new app icon design for version 1.2, an updated radio station database with the latest stations, improved stream validation with automatic codec and bitrate detection, enhanced language support through the new CTLanguageManagerSwift, and various performance improvements and bug fixes throughout the app. And let's not forget the improved voice-over support!

Thank You, Beta Testers!

A special thanks to everyone who participated in the TestFlight beta. Your feedback was invaluable in polishing these features and squashing bugs. The efficient beta phase is a big reason why this update arrived ahead of schedule.
